The Houses of God

ICEA – “Church at Study”

Have you ever wondered about the houses of God — from the first-established tabernacle in the wilderness to the last temple that will be erected during the end-times? Click on the text below to explore a handout on a study of the houses of God:

 Houses of God

You may use the handout for study or a teacher may want to discuss with his/her class.

NOTE: As you study the scriptures, keep in mind that there were many less known temples, synagogues, and houses of God where people have worshipped throughout history. OUR STUDY FOCUSES ON THE SIGNIFICANT PLACES FOR JEWISH WORSHIP NOTED IN THE BIBLE. Although there are biblical accounts where “the body of Christ” came together to worship, this study does not focus on how we assemble in our meeting places, such as houses, storefronts, churches, and cathedrals.

Peace on Earth: It’s Coming!

ICEA – “Church at Study”

Today we celebrate the birth of our Saviour (who is also the Prince of Peace). Peace is often something that is merely hoped for, or anticipated, by millions of unrestful souls around the world. At present, true peace reigns in the hearts of only a vast few in comparison to the masses who perpetuate hate and violence, or who have very little concern for goodwill toward men. From the very first murder of Abel at the hands of his brother Cain; the world is climaxing into a frenzy of violent acts against humanity. As a result…we often wish peace upon individuals and families this time of year, but in the midst of unstable and perilous surroundings. But peace is coming! It will be a time when…the wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them [the child will lead even the wildest of beasts] (Isaiah 11:6).

Very soon, nations who have governed with violence will be separated by the great Prince of Peace, who will eventually cast them from the earth, to make room for His peaceful reign. He will rule remaining nations and people with a rod of iron, bringing peace to all the world! Praise God, that day is approaching! Jesus Christ will come! Of the increase of [his] government and peace [there shall be] no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this (Isaiah 9:7). Get ready, all the meek of the earth and all who truly seek peace and equity! Your blessing is great: The meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. (Ps. 37:11) There is a day coming when God’s will will be done on earth as it is in heaven: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men! (Lk. 2:14)

The Value of a Soul! A Complete Sunday School Lesson You Can Use. Authored by Patrice Smith – PCAF Member.

Author Patrice Smith has written a timely Sunday school lesson, entitled: “The Value of a Soul.” She delves into answering many questions including, “what is a soul worth?” and “why are all souls valuable to God?” Patrice has shed light on this rarely talked about and informative matter. You may want to take a Sunday and break from your traditional classes to teach on this eye-opening subject! Try holding classes during the week or on one Bible class night (with your pastor’s permission, of course) if Sundays are not convenient.

HERE IS AN EXCERPT FROM THE LESSON:

It is society’s practice to judge people based on externals (i.e., looks, wealth, titles, education, profession, zip codes, etc.) It is probably safe to say we have all judged someone based on externalities or what society deems as important. Or…we may have been the one who was ignored or overlooked because we did not measure up to someone’s standards. Every day, people are mistreated, ignored, and made fun of because they look a certain way or lack resources to obtain a so-called “good” lifestyle. We forget that behind every face (whether considered attractive or not), behind every body-type, behind every wealthy businessman or woman and behind every homeless person begging for money on the street corner — there is an invaluable soul. To overlook people or make them feel unwanted based on looks or societal status is, from God’s perspective, wicked and contrary to biblical principles. For the bible states that God is no respecter of persons, He rains on the just and the unjust. John 3:16 points out this very fact, that “God so loved…He gave His only begotten Son.”
