Noah’s Ark…Found in Kentucky!

Visit the Amazing
Replica of Noah’s Ark!

The modern replica of Noah’s Ark is open for visitors in Kentucky. It’s as long as 1- and 1/2 football fields and higher than a four-story structure! The inside is filled with so much to see, you can’t experience it all thoroughly in one day! According to their website, the ark is the equivalent of approximately 450 standard semi-trailers!

This modern day wonder was constructed by the Amish and created without any nails, but wooden pegs were pounded into beams. Amazing!

Children Love a VBS
Graduation Ceremony!

Permit the children to come to Me;
do not hinder them…. (Mark 10:14)

What to Do:

  1. Go online and search for “Children’s graduation caps”. (Some are as low as 3.99 each.) Be sure to order a sample cap prior to your ceremony, to determine the quality.
  2. Appoint someone from your membership, such as a school principal, to advise or help with the ceremony.
  3. Create simple invitations and have children invite parents and other family members (Mark 10:13-16).
  4. Ask a church volunteer, who is familiar with graphic design, to create children’s certificates from software templates.
  5. Call names and present certificates as you would during any graduation. Have cake and punch after the ceremony!

IDEA STARTER!

“Our Vacation Bible School administrators wanted to offer a graduation for the children who participated in our weekday VBS activities. The program was called “Teach The Children.” Some children made presentations and there were encouraging comments from teachers. One of the most exciting times of this event was to see the children in the background preparing, scurrying, and putting on their caps. They were so excited! This was “their graduation” and many proud parents showed up for the ceremony!”

A ‘Fruit’ful Teachers
Appreciation Program

If I am to live on in the flesh, this will
mean fruitful labor for me…. (Phil. 1:22)

plums-fruit-fruit-basket-blue-169579.jpeg

What to Do:

  1. Have members decorate small fruit baskets.
  2. During the program, call each teacher forward, one at a time. Present them with the “fruit of their labors” (Phil. 4:17).
  3. Type out inspiring ageless quotes about teachers on 3 x 5 cards. Place cards on tables and have some students reads them.
  4. Your program could include: student poems and testimonies about their teachers, reading of students’ thank you cards, an appropriate song, slide presentations guessing teachers’ baby pictures, and a MC reading brief info. about each teacher. (Create a teacher information form months before the program and give to teachers to fill out. During the program, read teachers’ favorite things and brief bio., such as how many siblings, favorite hobbies, little known facts, years in church, etc.)

IDEA STARTER!

“One year, our Christian Education Department held a program and honored all teachers and staff. The program was held instead of our regularly scheduled Sunday classes. Fruit baskets were given to all teachers and staff during the program. Breakfast was served to all in attendance. We acknowledged groups of teachers and staff, such as superintendents, former teachers, workers, etc. We also selected a keynote speaker who spoke about the value of teachers. This was a very rewarding event!”
