There is no doubt that God speaks today. The voice of God is not just reserved for those who are leaders among the born again (John 3:1-3). The voice of God speaks to the body of Christ as well as the unrighteous and sinners (Prov. 8:1-10, 34-36). He speaks to pagans and heathens, as well as agnostics and atheists. PSALMS 19:1-6 PROVES THAT GOD SPEAKS TO EVERYONE! Verse 1 tells us that …”the heavens ARE TELLING of the glory of God”, so when anyone lifts their eyes to contemplate the heavens…God is speaking. He says that He is God, the creator of the heavens and the earth! All one needs to do is lift up their eyes and recognize His sovereignty, but somehow others explore the heavenlies and concludes there is no God (Ps. 14:1). Nevertheless, the heavens prove that there is a creator. Verse 2 states: “…day to day POURS FORTH SPEECH“, meaning everyday (although they are silent) the heavens SPEAK! They also…as the verse proclaims…REVEAL (or teach) us KNOWLEDGE. We come to understand that there is a God by His creation…and then if we can accept that, He will reveal His Son in us (Acts 9:1-20; Gal. 1:15-16) and show us greater purpose! If men HOLD to the notion (Rom. 1:18) that there is no God, He often will degrade them to acts of worship reduced to worshipping the very things that point to Him as the creator. They have missed the LORD God, who worship things such as the sun, moon, stars, images of man, beasts, and like things (Rom. 1:18-23). Verse 3 of Psalm tells us that “…there is no speech, nor are there words; THEIR VOICE is not heard.” The psalmist uses “THEIR VOICE” as an anthropomorphism, giving speaking abilities to the heavens. The heavens speak and yet cannot talk. There are approximately 6,500 spoken languages in the world and each person who speaks any tongue is well familiar with the sight of the heavens above them! Verse 4 tells us that “their line has gone out through all the earth, and THEIR WORDS to the end of the world. This means the sky and clouds cover every habitable part of God’s earth. The point is, God speaks through His creation (in particular, the heavenlies) and makes Himself known! Verses 4 through 6 are similar verses that bring these truths out further.
The heavens within our sphere are just one way God uses to speak to us. Please see the handout below to explore other ways God speaks to mankind.

How the Word of the Lord is Revealed
Shielding Against Depression
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye
shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
(Eph. 6:16)

Here is a video depicting warfare by arrows in ancient days. The apostle Paul gives us insight into the sometimes-constant battle against the mind. The thoughts that the enemy bombards us with is similar to the warfare fought in this video. Knowing the word of God and having faith in God are both sword and shield used to come away from the battlefield victorious!
Cares!
Casting all your care upon Him; for he careth for you.
(I Peter 5:7)

Those who have feelings of anxiety often feel like there is no hope and no one understands — and there is no one to help them come out of what they are experiencing in that moment. People with anxiety can often feel overwhelmed with thoughts of what other people’s opinions are about them. Those with anxiety are worried about the future or something that is unfolding in their lives.
GOD IS THE ANSWER TO ANXIETY! David had feelings of anxiety, but he learned how to overcome his fears. He said in Psalms 61:2-3, “From the most remote place of the earth, I will call to you, when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been a refuge for me, a strong tower from the enemy” (NHEB). The enemy is expert at trapping unsuspecting souls, but it is written: “Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped. Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth” (Ps. 124:7-8).
There are solutions to life that we don’t have and questions about life that we can’t answer. God is there to give solutions and to answer questions. He will amaze you with His problem-solving and answers! He has the ability to take the most complex situation in our lives and turn it around for our good! What a mighty God we serve! He will never leave or forsake us; He proves Himself time and time again!
Can’t you hear Jesus’ words to Martha: “But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things” (Luke 10:41 – ESV). Like Martha’s sister, Mary, there are times when we are to put away the details and come sit at Jesus’ feet! We are to cast all our cares on Him. He cares for us! This day has enough to deal with, so don’t give undue thought about tomorrow, but seek God’s kingdom (Matt. 6:33-34). We are not to be anxious about anything, but our cares should be given over to Jesus as we pray (Phil. 4:6-7).
He that has ears to hear, let him hear!
The Word of the Lord Against Troubling Times
And Jesus answered him, saying, It is
written, that man shall not live by bread
alone, but by every word of God. (Lk. 4:4)

It seems appropriate that we have fitting scriptures to refer to in troubling times. God’s Word does EFFECTIVELY work in those who read it and believe (I Thes. 2:13).
ICEA has compiled quite a few scriptures that work against troubling times! Please click the text below to view the scriptures typed out, along with the supporting scriptures. Please print this table of scriptures out and give to others!
